Well, right about the time the bronchitis started wearing off, and we got that first appointment under our belt....... the morning sickness kicked in. It started out as a lot of nauseau and oh yeah, so much for the mornings, it was ALL day. Food started being a challenge and some vomiting started occurring here and there. It basically turned my meal consumptions upside down and cooking meals pretty much came to an end. Eating out was a struggle, eating at home was a struggle, it was (and still is) so frustrating!!!!

Valentines’ Day – the appointment was at 10am. We left the office around 920am and got there early of course! We were called back to the ultrasound room pretty quick and in a matter of minutes, there was our baby on the screen. The technician found the heartbeat pretty quickly, strong at 146 and very amazing to hear! Dean held my hand through the entire ultrasound and we were just so overwhelmed and excited.

Then, we met with the nurse practicioner and got lots of handouts, books and asked lots of questions. She was helpful and let us talk as long as we wanted to talk until all our questions were answered. She told us to schedule another appointment with my doctor in four weeks and to call with any problems. So, another long four weeks. So, we called our families as we were leaving the doctor’s office to share the good news, but decided that it was still early, so we wanted to hold off until that next appointment to start sharing our news with everyone. I was kinda surprised that I felt this way, but we were just very nervous and worried! But again, very excited!

And, then in keeping with the spirit of the day, when we got back to the office, I had a dozen roses waiting on my desk, from my darling husband!
