I am in my weekly doctor appointment mode now. I had an ultrasound first thing this morning. They estimated that Graham weighs 5 pounds and 14 ounces and is well on his way to being 8 pounds! I saw the doctor next and she said that I had not started dilating yet, but was about 10 - 20 % efaced. So, a little progress. I have my appointments made all the way until the end of September for every week. Otherwise, pretty uneventful. She just asked how I was feeling etc. I continue to feel okay, definitely can tell there is less room as I get winded very easy and fill up quickly at meal time (of course, then I am hungry two hours later, ha!. So, he is definitely taking over!!!!! Dean went with me since we were having an ultrasound.
Five weeks to go, not that I am counting, ha!!! We went back to work and had our first full week in the new house on a "normal" schedule. It was very nice to come straight home in the evenings to one house! We continued getting settled and I was even lazy and napped in the evenings. It was really hot again this week and I am getting tired a little easier. Dean worked on unpacking his office most evenings and watering the yard. I am posing for this picture in his office, he likes it a lot down there and Madison will even go down there and hang out with him now that you can actually walk through it, minus all the boxes!
I went back to the doctor on Wednesday for a quick routine appointment. Everything looked good and normal and she confirmed that his head is still down. Next week, we have another ultrasound and will get a check of his size etc and she will start checking me internally to see if I am progressing. So, that will be interesting. Dean will go to this appointment with me since we will be getting an ultrasound. Graham is moving all the time, not really kicking, just moving all around. I guess he is trying to get comfortable in less space!
We had Infant CPR and choking techniques on Wednesday night, that was really interesting. I had never been exposed to anything like that so it was all new to me. Dean had some CPR in high school so he was a little familiar. Apparently, the American Heart Association is getting ready to release new standards going from 1 breath and 5 compressions to 2 breaths and 30 compressions. So, we practices both ways on dolls. And, then we practiced the choking techniques too. Then, I went to a breast feeding class on Thursday night with a lactation consultant. That was very interesting and I got a lot of handouts and materials and a little hint of what is to come! So, we are all done with classes! We really enjoyed all of them.
If we get good pictures at the ultrasound on Wednesday, I will get those posted. And, I have also posted some house pictures finally. And, stay tuned for a new look to the website!
What a week! We are officially moved into the new house! I was on vacation all week and Dean only worked Monday and Tuesday. My mom and dad were here with us from Saturday thru Friday. We spent the first part of the week getting the rest of boxes and odds and ends moved to the new house and getting blinds and curtain rods hung, remaining appliances hooked up, etc. Then on Wednesday, the movers showed up and moved all the big furniture. They were a great four man crew and got it all on one truck and loaded and unloaded in three hours! It was great! Not a scratch or dent on anything! The fence was built Monday - thursday and we had all the normal install appointments throughout the week, satellite, phone, internet, gas (for the logs), etc., in addition to going and signing the closing papers on the old house. We made one last run back there on Thursday night to do a final cleaning and get the last couple boxes of cleaning supplies, the ladder, etc. Friday morning at 8am, they got the keys!
We had been unpacking most boxes as they were being brought to the new house except things that were waiting on the furniture, so then we spent the later part of the week on that and getting things hung on the walls etc. So, the whole house is pretty much unpacked, decorated and in order, MINUS Deans office,(which I am not allowed in to unpack, ha!) So, that room will prob take a wee bit longer! I bet we carried 40 boxes of books alone to it!
I tried to take it easy as best I could, but you all know me! We were up early, worked late and took few breaks! But, now that everything is done and in its place, it is definitely time to relax and enjoy, I have been sitting in the nursery alot, so fun! The furniture came on Monday and we got all the bedding and such put on it and it just looks wonderful!
I went back to the doctor on Monday and had a routine exam, she said everything is still looking great and measuring normal. Mom went with me and we asked her about how much I was going to be doing this past week and she said for me to stay hydrated and take breaks when I get winded. She said all the exercise I was getting would actually help me during labor, so I hope that holds true!!!!! Then, I took Mama over to the hospital and showed her around the labor and delivery floor, nursery and mother and baby units. She really enjoyed that!
I am going to the doctor every week now, I go back this Wednesday. We have infant CPR class on Wednesday and I have a class on breastfeeding with a lactation specialist on Thursday night. Then, I think that is the end of the classes! So, next we need to start thinking about packing the suitcase and getting the carseat installed. Dean got the stroller / carseat system all assembled and it is sitting in the formal living room with the jogging stroller!
I did finally get the shower pictures from last weekend loaded last night. I hope later today to start loading some house pictures inside and outside. I did get a few fence shots loaded on the house blog page. We are also gonna work on a slight re-design of the website in the next couple weeks, since there will not be any more daily construction updates and soon the baby blog will turn into updates about Graham, so stay tuned for that. So, in the meantime, go to the Shelly Page and check out the shower pics and watch for some house pics. I will try to snap shots from around the house!
Only seven weeks to go!!!! We had our second baby shower on Saturday, tons of fun. The theme was “Ship’s Ahoy, It’s a Boy!” all nautical decorations and hosted by Kelly, Stacy, Carol and my mama. We had around 20 people there including several family members and some family friends that I had seen in a quite awhile. We played some fun games, ate lots of yummy food and I opened bunches and bunches of presents, another great assortment of items! Graham has sailing outfits for all different seasons! And, best of all, this time when the shower was over – we took all the goodies straight to the nursery at the new house!!! Again, we had a second shower as Dean went through all the packages and quickly started assembling several items! We hung all the clothes up and got the room cleaned up and ready for the furniture delivery on Monday morning! So, get ready for pictures, coming soon! Showers pictures will also be posted soon too!
We are full force in the midst of the move! While us gals were partying at the shower, Dean and my dad were hard at work moving boxes and such. We have movers coming on Wednesday for the furniture, but we are trying to just leave the big furniture for them and do most everything else ourselves. So, Mama came home with me after the shower and we joined Daddy and Dean and spent all day Sunday doing more of the same. The house is starting to come together and the old house is starting to look empty. We close with the people buying the old house on Friday morning at 8am, so have until Thursday evening to be totally out!
I go back to the doctor on Monday morning, for a quick check-up. Since we had the ultrasound last time, this will probably be a pretty basic appointment, so Dean is gonna sit this one out, and it is also right in the middle of the day. So, since Mama is in town helping with the move, she is gonna go with me and get to meet my doctor and I am gonna show her around the hospital area as well. So, that will be fun, then we have all kinds of errands to run as well.
Only 8 weeks to go! That is so hard to believe. Now, all of a sudden, it seems like it has flown by! This past week was quite the whirldwind. On Monday night, we had a couple look at the house. We talked a couple times during the week and we got the final call about 4pm on Friday, they made the final offer and we accepted!!!! They are re-locating to the area and want to get moved in before school starts in a few weeks, so we are supposed to close in 2 weeks on the 18th, if everything comes together! It is just amazing how it is timing out. We got to start moving stuff in the new house on Friday night, and of course, the first load was all nursery boxes!!!!!
Saturday was Dean’s birthday and we spent most of the day moving boxes and odds and ends to the house. I got most of the kitchen done and Dean was in “daddy” mode and assembled the pack and play for the family room and the jogging stroller! How fun! We took a break that evening and went out for dinner and celebrated his birthday and all our other exciting developments! We spent a good part of Sunday doing more of the same. We will spend the evenings this week taking more boxes to the new house and unpacking them as we go. Then, in a week on Wed, the 16th, we will have the movers come and finish up all the furniture, etc.
We had our baby care basics class on Wednesday evening and that was really neat. We got to practice diapering and swaddling a doll, so that was fun. We got a lot of freebies and handouts. Two more classes and we should be as educated as we can be! Graham continues to kick and move like crazy! His furniture will be delivered in a week on the 14th, so then, I will put the finishing touches on his room and then we should be all ready, or as ready as we are gonna be!!!!!! So, here I am standing on the front porch at the new house! I guess the remainder of my photos will get to be taken there!!!!!
