Graham - FOUR years, 43 weeks old, Evan - ONE YEAR, twenty-six weeks old

Graham's tooth was the highlight of the week! First thing when he woke up on Monday he wanted me to check on it. He didnt want to eat anything hard for breakfast. We had a long talk with his teacher when we got to school, he wanted to make sure his teacher could put it in something if he lost it at school and he was also worried that he might eat it and not have anything to leave for the tooth fairy. I assured him if that happened, we could leave her a note. I was pretty sure it wasn't loose enough to come out for a bit.....little did I know! I got there to pick him up on Monday evening and one of his classmates met me at the door and yelled - Graham lost his tooth! Graham went running to his cubby and pulled out a little tooth shaped box with his tooth in it! Apparently he flicked it out with his tongue in the gym and all his friends gathered around! It bled just a little and he was very proud of it! He is already asking daily if his new tooth is there yet! He looks so different and so grown up! Everyone has always said that he would loose his teeth early because of how early he got them, so I guess that is the case! The tooth fairy was very generous and brought Graham $10, he ran it straight over to his piggy bank and was very excited to tell everyone about the visit from her!!!!

On Friday evening, mama and daddy met us at First Baptist and picked up the kids with us and then spent the evening with us. They played and played and were worn out at bedtime. We had a fun evening visit.

We hung out at home on Saturday and then had evening visitors, friends from Delaware, Beth, Scott and twins Shaun and Andrew who are Grahams age, stopped by on their way passing through on vacation and we had a blast. We cooked out and then played outside and inside and the boys were like best buddies. It was so fun watching them play together!!!!

On Sunday, after church, we had a fun afternoon. We went to IHOP for lunch and then to Barnes and Noble and then finally to the movies to see the classic Winnie the Pooh movie. Graham isnt interested in movies at all right, but he loves Pooh! So, he was all for it! Evan ate popcorn and was all smiles during the previews and then as it got darker and the move started, he crawled over on my lap and slept through the whole thing! It was a fun afternoon!

Evan continues to be a "Wild child" as Graham calls him. He is just such a busy little guy! The climbing is really the craziest part! He will climb up on anything and everything that he can!!!! He heads to his 18 month appointment on Monday, hard to believe his is already 18 months!!!!

Graham - FOUR years, 42 weeks old, Evan - ONE YEAR, twenty-five weeks old

Graham had a really good week in Taekwondo class. He got his third stripe on Tuesday night for his 21 step form and then on Thursday night, he got his 4th stripe for his one steps! He will be ready to test for his orange belt the first week in August! We are really surprised at how fast it is going, but we have pretty much committed two nights a week to it and practice a good bit at home too, so it is definitely playing off! He is very excited because when he gets his orange belt, he gets to start sparring!

Evan continues to be busy busy busy. We are hearing a few more words and he is definitely getting more and more independent and just the cutest thing! The climbing is continuing like crazy, he just wants to be on top of anything that he can!

I picked the boys up early on Friday from school, which was a treat, and we headed to the lake to hang out with Seung, Steve and Kierson and Hana. We met them at a pizza place and ate outdoors by the lake and then headed backed to their condo. The big boys were of course excited to get to have a sleepover and the little ones were so lovie and playful. We managed to have all four kids alseep before 11pm, haha. Kierson and Graham slept on sleeping bags on the living room floor. We got up early Saturday morning, had breakfast and then we took them to "our lake." We had a full day of playing in the pool, kayaking, playing in the sand, checking out the boats, eating and just having fun! The kids all had a blast and the weather was not as hot and it made for a very enjoyable day. We were there ALL day long!!!! Both boys crashed on the way home, woke up barely long enough to eat and then went straight to bed!!!!

We headed to church Sunday, then out to lunch and home to catch up on inside and outside housework. We played outside some as well and Missy brought over her new boxer puppy and the boys really enjoyed seeing that. She was a cutie!

The big excitement came at bedtime on Sunday night. Graham came downstairs shortly after lights out and I started to run him back to bed when he said, Mommy - my tooth is loose and I think it is going to fall out. Sure enough, I touched it and it went back and forth and back and forth! We were shocked and very excited. We got Graham settled down and sent him to bed dreaming about the tooth fairy!!!!

Graham - FOUR years, 41 weeks old, Evan - ONE YEAR, twenty-four weeks old

We celebrated the 4th of July on Monday with a low key day at home. We needed to rest up a bit after nine straight days of go go go. We wanted to try to get the boys back on schedule somewhat and get caught up on things around the house as well.

Tuesday morning came all to early! We did manage to get up and got to First Baptist around our normal time. Evan went right in to his class and didnt miss a beat. Graham's class was on the second week of splitting the duck room in to two classes. Apparently they had a really good first week and Graham was excited for the new room set up. They had a new system for behavior where their dot can move up a chart for making good choices and when it gets to number 10, no matter what day of the week it is, they get to go the treasure box. So, sure enough on Thursday, he made it to 11 and made the trip! And, then by Friday, it was all the way to 15. The smaller group setting (two classes of 10 instead of one class of 20, definitely seemed to be working for everyone!) So, we were quite excited for that!!!

On Tuesday and Thursday night, we headed back to Taekwondo. Graham was a little rusty, but he is quite close to testiing for his third stripe on his yellow belt for his form. He is really working on perfecting all the little bits and pieces of it and he seemed really happy to be back in class.

We needed a catch up weekend around the house, so on Saturday, I worked inside the house and Dean worked out the house and then we took a break in the afternoon to break out the kiddie pool for the kids. They had a ball and Madison even wandered over and took some drinks to cool off. Dean took a break from the yard work and jumped in the pool with them. They all had a lot of fun!

On Sunday, we headed to church and then out to lunch at Red Robin and ran some errands. Graham had his eye on this rocket ship at Walmart for awhile and we had told him that if he had a week at school where he was good every day, he could earn it. So, this was his week. So, he was very excited to go and pick it out and very proud of it. Hopefully that will help motivate him to continue his good streak!

Evan is starting to repeat words and make more and more progress towards talking. We really do feel like he is just gonna explode any day now! He continues to be just sooo busy all the time and climb like crazy on anything and everything.

Graham - FOUR years, 40 weeks old, Evan - ONE YEAR, twenty-three weeks old

We officially kicked off our vacation on Monday and started with a little trip down to Martinsville to the Va Museum of Natural History. Graham is big time in to dinosaurs right now and they had some cool dino exhibits and some other creatures and lots of fossils and a big wooden boat playset. Evan wandered around taking it all in as well. We grabbed some lunch and headed home. Our big challenge for vacation was going to be Evan and his thumb. We noticed on Sunday that he had a bad blister on the thumb that he sucks and it was really red and swollen. We started putting a bandaid on it and trying to pull it out of his mouth whenever we could. We were having fair luck with it so far.

We got up and headed out early Tuesday morning, just like a regular school / work morning and headed to the mountains of West Virginia to ride the Cass Railroad. This is our third summer of riding a heritage railroad and the other thing that Graham is as crazy about as dinosaurs is trains! It took us about three hours to get over the twisty roads, but it was well worth it. We got to the little town and there were shops and a depot and we got a lunch to take on the train and headed up the mountain. The neat thing about this train was that there were two switchbacks, so Graham was loving that. We got off the train at “Whittaker Station,” and wandered around looking at all the old stuff from the logging camp and then headed back down the mountain, complete with passing another train at the switchback! It was a super fun day and both boys were worn out. They slept nearly the whole next leg of our trip over to Harrisonburg to Massanutten Resort, where we spent the next couple days.

We stayed in a nice one bedroom condo and the resort was great, thousands and thousands of acres and just gorgeous. There were deer just roaming around everywhere and we were greeted by several of them grazing outside our balcony the first night we got there. Of course Graham thought that was super cool! We headed out Wednesday morning to the water park. There was a large indoor part with all kinds of splash pools and several intermediate water slides that Graham could go down and kiddie pools for Evan to play in. Then, outside there was a big wave pool and some more splash areas. Both boys had a blast and we enjoyed the day quite well!

We headed back to the condo, got cleaned up and then headed out for some adventures around the resort. First stop, Graham got to go bungee jumping. It was like the one he did at the Salem Fair last year and he loved it. He even did a flip this time! Then, him and Dean rode a big two seater go cart around a race track. They got bumped a few times and even had to stop for a groundhog to run across the track one time! Then, we went to the mini golf course and Dean and Graham played 18 holes while Evan and I tagged along. Graham got the hang of it and even got a couple shots in 2 or 3 and Dean got a hole in one! The course was really neat with lots of waterfalls and rocks and hills. We left there and made a final stop at a big park with a really cool playground. We played and played and let the boys run and run and then called it a night! It was a super fun filled day!

On Thursday morning, we got up for more exploring around the resort. We headed to the stables and Graham rode a beautiful Arabian horse two laps around the field. He has ridden lots of ponies, but this was his first horse. He had to wear a helmet and seemed so high up! Then we walked through the petting farm and fed the animals. Both boys went right up the fence and Graham fed the animals out of his hand and Evan pointed to them and laughed! We left there and headed to the adventure park. Graham and Dean rode a tubing course that is used for snow tubing in the winter. They each sat in a tube that was connected together and slid down a 900 feet hill! Graham loved it and they did it four times! They also had several bouncy houses set up and of course Graham loves those and Evan and I bounced a little as well!

We left there and had a nice lunch at the restaurant on the golf course and then headed to the pool by the condo. It was a huge pool and also had a kiddie pool. But, the part that Graham was most excited about was the diving board area. It was a 9.5 foot deep section that was only for diving and you could not wear any kind of vest or use any kind of float. The lifeguard told us you had to be able to swim to the ladder. Graham said he could do it and sure enough he did, NINE times! We had to keep making him rest, in between, but he wanted to climb up the ladder and head right back to the line. Several times, there were about 10 people ahead of him, but he waited patiently. He was definitely tired after that. We went back to the condo ate dinner and found another playground to play on up until bedtime. It was a really fun day again!

The boys slept a little later Friday morning and I worked on getting us packed up and then we headed out, we stopped at Natural Bridge Zoo on the way home. They had a nice assortment of animals with giraffes and zebras being the highlight, UNTIL, we got to the elephant ride! Dean and Graham rode first and loved it, so Evan and I decided to take our turn. Evan was very very calm, but I held on to him very very tightly! It was bumpier than I thought it would be so I was holding Evan with one hand and holding the rail with the other hand! We left there and got some lunch and were bound for home with both boys catching a final nap!

We all slept in on Saturday morning, until 9am, that is just unheard of for us! I think we were all still tired from our week. We took it easy Saturday morning and then headed out Friday afternoon to the Salem Fair. Last year, just Graham and I went since Evan was only a few months old, but we all went as a family this time. We started on the big Ferris wheel and then rode ride after ride after ride! There were a few things that Evan could ride, but he was so cute waving to Graham and watching him on the ones that he couldn’t ride. Hopefully next year he will be big enough to ride everything with Graham! We ended the day with ice cream and funnel cakes and both boys crashed in the car on the way home!

On Sunday, we headed back to the lake for a hot pool day. Danah, Kenneth and Lillian joined us and we were there all day and stayed in the pool pretty much the whole time! The kids all played so good in the water and it was just so hot that none of us wanted to get out. Graham is such a little fish and Evan spent more time in the pool in his floats and Lillian got braver and braver over the day. We had the whole pool to ourselves most of the day too, so that was nice! It was yet another fun filled day!

After carrying around Evan so much over the past week, I decided it had been a while since I weighed him. On Sunday night, he weighed in at 27 pounds and 11 ounces! WOW! No wonder my arm and hip was so tired! We kept his thumb bandaged and out of his mouth enough over the week that the blister finally healed and it started to look a lot better, but he is pretty much back to sucking it. He really needs it to go to sleep unless he is just exhausted. We are trying to let that go, but take it out of his mouth when he is just doing it for boredom. Graham is even helping us to police him. Evan continues to be very jibber jabbering and expressive and loves to point at things and hand us things. We are starting to make out a few more words here and there too! Both boys were just great all week and we had the best time on vacation!

Graham - FOUR years, 39 weeks old, Evan - ONE YEAR, twenty-two weeks old

The boys had a great week of Vacation Bible School at First Baptist this week. They brought home such cool art work all week, it was really neat to see the difference between them doing the exact same project and how different they turned out. Graham talked about it all week and seemed to really enjoy it. We are tickled that Evan got moved over in time to participate as well!

Graham is working hard on his new form and even tested once for his next stripe, but didnt quite have it, but it probably wont be long. The classes have really been small for the summer so he is getting a lot of personal instruction, so that has been good.

When we finished up work and school on Friday evening, we started vacation and 10 days off! I think it is the first time we took a whole week off together since Graham was a baby! We kicked off the week on Saturday at the lake. We had a fun time at the pool and beach and went on a long walk around the marina and around all the docks. The boys really enjoyed seeing all the boats and it was just a gorgeous day!

Sunday was my birthday day and we headed to my parents for the annual birthday celebration, mine, mamas and Cals. We had lots of fun and played and played outside and inside and the kids were all worn out. We had pizza and ice cream cake and Mama surprised us with Uncle Danny, Cousin Tracy and her kids. It had been a long time since I had seen Tracy and never had seen her kids. Her son is a couple years older than Graham and they played really well together. We left there and headed to Green Ridge Rec Center for a pool party that First Baptist was throwing to wrap up Vacation Bible School and the kids were going to perform songs from the week. We got there and it was sprinkling rain a little bit, then it started pouring and we were all getting soaked so we just decided it was not meant to be and called it a day. It was the entire the church and preshool sides and very crowded despite the rain!!!!!

Next stop - vacation!
