We had a great week leading up to Easter weekend. Graham went back to Taekwondo class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. He has to do a longer 14 step move before he can get his next stripe. He was a little disappointed and hard on himself but he really seems to want to stick with it and learn, so that is good to see. Evan also went back to swim lessons on Thursday and he had a really good lesson. He floated on his back unassisted for 10 seconds three different times, so that is great. Of course, he is still fussing the whole time, but just like Graham, he is performing though!
On Tuesday morning, Graham had his second cleaning at the dentist. He did great again and was so excited to go. He had been talking about it for weeks and was so happy to go that morning. He did great all through the cleaning and with the dentist when he came in. His teeth looked perfect and he was tickled to get a new toothbrush and toothpaste and a prize from the goodie box.
We all had Good Friday off. Evan and I headed out early for his 15 month check-up and left Dean and Graham in the bed. He weighed in at 25 pounds and 7 ounces and was 31 and 3/4 inches, 70th percentile for both. All in all, a good appointment, he seems to be right on track with all his milestones and development. He is cutting all of his 8 remaining teeth - everything except his 2 year molars. He has had some fussiness and waining appetite here and there due to cutting so many. But, hopefully, it wont be long before they are all in. He got two shots and we were on our way.
We got home and colored nearly three dozen easter eggs, which was a lot of fun. Evan watched and chewed on some plastic eggs and Graham enjoyed every minute of it. We played around the house and just had a fun afternoon at home and then headed to Good Friday service, where Dean had his traditional solo.
We headed out early Saturday morning and hit swim lessons for both boys and then headed to my parents to celebrate Easter. Kenneth, Danah, Lilian, and Dean's parents joined us, so that was nice. The kids got lots of Easter goodies and we had a big Easter egg hunt (of which Graham was most interested in). We had bubbles, kites, frisbies, sidewalk chalk, hoola hoops, ice cream, popcicles and lots of fun. The weather was absolutely perfect and we spent nearly the whole day outside! Evan conked out and slept the whole way home, but Graham talked and talked about our day!
We kicked off Sunday morning with a trip to the living room to see what the Easter Bunny brought. Graham and Evan were both very excited to see all the goodies in their baskets and tore in to everything. We got ready and headed to church. We took a few pics outside at church, another gorgeous day! After church, we came home and played and played outside some more. Evan just loves being in his swing on the playset and so does Graham. We broke out the new kites from the Easter Bunny and hid a few more eggs. It got crazy hot and we finally had to go in and cool off! All in all, a very fun filled Easter weekend! The boys were so good and we just could not have asked for a better weekend!!!
Another jam packed week for us! We started Graham in Taekwondo class this week. He will go on Tuesday and Thursdays most every week. He definitely was intrigued when we got there and watched the earlier class finishing up. He got his shirt and pants and a white belt. The class was 30 minutes and he caught right on to some of the moves. At the end of the class he demonstrated his moves to the instructor and he got a stripe on his belt. He was very very excited and talked and talked about wanting to get more colors on his belt!
On Thursday night, we had our first, of what will probably be very many, split activity nights...... Dean picked up Graham and they went to Taekwondo and I picked up Evan and we headed to swim lessons. Graham loved the karate again and got another stripe and learned a couple new moves and Evan floated on his back unassisted twice! SO, a very crazy evening, but lots of good stuff!
Graham and a lot of his class are still really struggling with the recent teacher transition and we are having more bad days than good days. We have been praying about it and talking about it with him a lot and have tried different punishments and rewards. The week ended a little better, but not great. We are hoping next week will be a bit better.
We had a busy weekend of fun activities. We headed to swim lessons for both boys on Saturday morning and then we headed to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. Graham was very excited to see and talk the Easter Bunny, so we started out with him first and he did great. I thought for sure that Evan would cry and fuss, but he actually sat on the Bunny's lap and didnt fuss, but he would not smile either and just had an odd look on his face. I finally joined in to see if we could get some smiles, but he was not gonna have it and by that time, Graham was over it as well...... so we got our pics, Dean and Graham rode the train and we headed to Panera for lunch.
We headed home and then enjoyed a fun afternoon playing outside. The boys played in the driveway on the bike and cozy coup and the bubbles and push lawnmowers and then hit the playset. Evan will stay in his swing for the longest time and just smiles and smiles! Hopefully, we have more and more outside days in the weeks to come!!!!
We got word last week that Evan officially moves over to First Baptist on May 31st, so we are super excited about that! We set our two visitation days for the week before, the same as with Graham - a one hour visit with us and a two hour visit on his own. Since Gray and Vivienne are already there, hopefully that will make it a super easy transition!!!! Also, that same week, Graham will have a special school program that includes a graduation from his pre-K room and special songs and bible verses! So, we are very excited for that and the letter even said cameras are encouraged!!!!
Evan finished up his meds and seemed to be feeling much better, much less congestion and night waking and even doing better at drop-offs, not nearly as clingy and crying, so that is great! Hopefully that phase is over! He had swim lesson again on Thursday and just like Graham - he is doing what he is supposed to do but fussing the whole time! They say he will get there though just like Graham did!
Graham had a tough week at school, not sure if it is because of the crazy schedule in March or getting a new teacher or the combination of both, but he was in trouble a lot for all different sorts of things! We have done some punishments and also working on some rewards for him to work towards, so hopefully this will be a better week!
We had a fun weekend. On Saturday, we headed to swim lessons. Evan did about the same and Graham got to move up to the next class, so that was exciting, he is really progressing and it is just amazing to watch him!
We went home and got the house all ready for visitors, Seung and Steve and Kierson and Hana were coming for the weekend, so Graham was super excited and looked out the window about all day! They got there at dinner time and we ate a big meal and then the kids played and played and all went to bed late. We tried to let Kierson and Graham sleep together but after many last chances, at 10pm, we finally had to separate them, but at 645am the next morning they will already reunited and playing hard! Hana and Evan had fun playing together as well......when Evan wasn't pulling her long pretty hair! After breakfast, we headed to the lake with them as they looked at some real estate and we had fun being around the water all day. They headed home and we headed to Pelican Point to unofficially kick off lake season for us. Evan was not yet walking at the end of last season, so it was fun to see him roaming all around and of course, heading right for the water! Graham is such an old pro and was helping Dean clean the boat and even wanted to go sailing! We cant wait to get started going back over there every weekend! The boys both crashed in the car on the way home, it was a big weekend for them for sure!
We had another wild and crazy week! I headed to Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday and SHOULD have made it home in time for bedtimes on Wednesday but due to delays, it was 11pm before I got home. Dean and the boys got along pretty good. And, I was very glad to see them on Thursday morning. However, Evan was still being pretty fussy and waking a good bit at night, so I figured it was time to head on to the doc. Sure enough, he had a double ear infection. We got some meds and were on our way. Ten days of amoxicillin but in a couple days, it seemed to kick in and even seemed to help with some of his congestion and definitely helped with his sleeping, so that was great. He is also working on about 5 teeth! His top two molars are nearly in and he has really really swollen gums on the bottom and a little white showing through, so it wont be long now.
On Friday morning, we loaded the boys up and they went out the door with Dean and my dad met them in Blacksburg and took them for the weekend. I went away for a girls weekend and Dean did some projects around the house, inside and outside. The boys had a fun weekend and enjoyed the visit and of course loved playing with Lillian. They met Dean for McDonalds on Sunday for lunch after church and headed home and I got home a bit later. Again, it was nice to be back under one roof and hopefully it will be a while before there is any more travel!!!!
Here are some pics from the weekend away.
