We had a short work / school this week before heading to the beach on Thursday. Graham is still doing great at First Baptist and we are so happy there. On Wednesday, Mama and daddy met me there so they could see it and we picked up Graham and he told everyone we were going to Myrtle Beach!
We got on the road at 5am on Thursday morning. Graham was asleep the first few minutes, then wide awake the rest of the trip, until about five minutes before we got to the hotel. We let him nap while we got checked in, checked out the hotel, then we woke him up and headed to the pool and then the beach for a bit. The hotel had five different pools and Graham enjoyed going from pool to pool and playing. He warmed up to the beach quicker this year than last year and dug right in the sand.
We headed out for some seafood for dinner and hit the outlets for some shopping and then Graham konked out, we had already had a very busy trip! On Friday, it was my bday and Graham sang to me right off the bat. We had celebrated with Dean before we left, but it was still fun to have a special song. We were back on the beach bright and early and spent the day going back and forth from the beach to the pool. Graham loved every minute of it and could not get enough of the ocean! He loved running from the waves and especially being picked up to jump the waves. He loved playing with all his buckets and sand toys and helping pawpaw build things, and then tearing them down! That night we went to Bonefish Grill for a yummy bday dinner, followed by some ice cream later. We hoped to hit the amusement park, but it stormed and stormed so we headed back to the room. We had a big adventure that night as the fire alarm went off at 1am. We had evacuate for what turned out to be a case of someone busting the sprinkler in their room. Graham woke up and was quite interested in the fire trucks and all the commotion. It was a bit tricky getting him back to sleep though, he wanted to watch TV!
Graham slept until almost 9am Saturday morning, guess that middle of the night outing caught up to him! Saturday was mama's bday so he sang to her first thing and was very sweet. We spent another day of beaching and pool time and again Graham was just wide open, barely sitting for a minute! We headed to dinner and then went to the amusement park, which was a big hit. Graham was most concerned about the train, so we all four rode the train and then he went from ride to ride, as soon as he got off one ride, he had his eye on the next ride! He even got to ride a pony! Again, he was exhausted by the time we got back to the room. Sleeping was interesting as well, he wanted no part of the crib, he is a big boy now! So, he slept in the full bed with me and he liked to take up the whole bed, so that was quite a few nights we had!!!
On Sunday, we made a stop at the pier for one last visit with the ocean, stopped at one more shop and then headed home! Graham did nap in the car on the way home after we stopped for lunch, so that was the first normal nap time he had the whole trip! Dean and Madison were happy to see us as we were them! Graham wanted to play with all his toys and play in his room, and of course, tell Daddy all about our adventure. He had one more song in him on Sunday, as it was Dean's dad bday, so he got on the phone and sang to him, again very very cute.
It was a great trip and I took LOTS of pics. Here are a couple of my faves for now, many more to come!!!!
We had a full week and busy weekend! Graham is doing wonderful at First Baptist. It was vacation bible school this week and he got to have lots of neat special activities, he really enjoyed it and told us a couple bible stories! He seems to have just clicked there so very well! We are really happy with the switch. Dean was in charge Tuesday - Thursday, as I was gone to Minneapolis. The boys did fine and they had good drop-offs and good evenings. I got home Thursday night right after bathtime and we had some playtime before bed. I brought him special treats from the Lego store as always and he was very pleased!
On Saturday, we headed out early that morning to take Madison to the very for her annual shots. Graham had a ball seeing all the other dogs and cats that were there and talking to Madison's "doctor." He would tell Madison that it was gonna be okay. It was cute.
We headed to the lake for a full day of sun and fun. Graham LOVES going to "the lake, the beach, the pool." And, we did all three! First, we played in the pool awhile. There was no one else there, so we had the pool all to ourselves for about 2 hours. Graham didn't want to do his swimming like in swim class, but instead swam all around on a noodle. He loved it! And of course, he still loves his boat as well. We went over to the beach area and threw sticks as part of our routine. Then, we headed down the boat and it was actually quite windy, so we headed out for a sail. It actually turned out to be too windy and so we had to pull the sails down after a bit and motor back in. But, it was still fun and Graham loves to make the boat rock and seeing all the other boats pass us. We had to go back the pool and cool off after the sail. Then, we headed to a cookout at a co-worker's house for a short bit and then called it a day. Graham napped from the lake to the cookout and was quite tired! All that swimming tired him out!
On Sunday morning, we headed to early service and then went to visit Dean's parents. We celebrated Father's Day with some takeout from Olive Garden, so that was yummy. Graham had fun playing of course and they enjoyed all his antics. Again, he konked out when we left. Graham had fun telling all the dads Happy Fathers Day and giving out presents. He made Dean a special card with a picture at school. Dean and Graham took it easy the rest of the day and I started packing and getting ready for our beach trip this week. My parents will get here Wednesday evening and then we will head out bright and early Thursday morning and stay until Sunday. Dean wasn't up for being a beach bum, so he is gonna stay behind with Madison and do some projects around the house. Graham is very excited!
So, here are a couple lake pics, but stay tuned for LOTS of beach pics next week!
Graham got settled in at his new program at First Baptist this week. He fell right in to the schedule and seemed to just go with the flow. The last two mornings, he got a little clingier at drop-offs, but was fine right after I headed out. He seemed to click with his teachers and new friends and already has a couple that he talks about. And, every day when we left, he got lots of hugs and kisses from several girls! He pointed out the old school a couple times when we passed by it, but didn't seem to be to torn up that we weren't going back there. So, all in all, I guess it was a pretty good transition.
This week will be a little trickier, as I am going to be gone to Minneapolis Tuesday - Thursday, so Dean will be doing drop-offs and pick-ups. I will be back just before bedtime on Thursday night, so it is a quick trip! Hopefully, everything will go smooth for them! He gets to participate in Vacation Bible School this week, so that will be neat.
It was rainy several evenings again last week so we are not getting to walk much or go out on the playset much, so that has been disappointing. But, we did have a full weekend of outside time!
On Saturday, we headed to my parents house and got to see them and Granny Stoots and Kenneth, Danah and Baby Lilian. We played outside a bunch with bubbles and balls and threw sticks in the creek and had a big time. Graham is still totally taken with Lillian and just wants to love on her and hold her and hold her some more! We headed out in the afternoon and Graham was asleep practically before we got out the driveway! He had a big day!
On Sunday, we slept in a little and then did some laundry and cleaning and got ready for my trip. Then we headed to a cookout birthday party for Carson, that used to be our neighbor. Graham and Carson and some little girls had a big time playing and running and playing some more. Graham was totally in tune to the whole birthday thing and knew exactly what was going on, and kept telling everyone that he was two. Carson was turning two! It was really cute. And, again, when we left there, Graham was asleep almost right away and slept another 2 hours when we got home!
So, we did finally get to play outside and walk Sunday, so that was nice. We thought we would have time to go to the lake, but ran out of time, so hopefully next weekend after I get back!
We had two very nice visits at the daycare at First Baptist. First, we went for an hour and we stayed with him. He played very nicely and enjoyed checking out all the new toys and had some outside time too. The next day he had to stay for two hours and I couldn't stay. He didn't mind a bit when I left and they said when I got back that he did great! We took most all his supplies and dropped them off, so we will be all set on the first day. We have been talking about the old school and the new school and hopefully he will settle right in this week. Mama made him a new big boy blanket with sailboats that we are going to take on Monday morning.
On Friday, my work picnic was being held at Mill Mountain Zoo. The office closed at 3pm and I went and picked up Graham and we met Dean and headed to the picnic. Graham was very excited that we got to ride a bus from the parking garage to the zoo, so that was our first adventure. Graham enjoyed checking out all the animals, riding the train and having hotdogs. The highlight of the night was the awesome balloon sculpter, he made Garham a huge elephant balloon hat, that he was in total awe of.
On Saturday morning, Graham and I headed to see Rachel to get a haircut. He was way overdue. Graham told Rachel that his hair was crazy and she totally agreed! It is still thickening up and filling in, so she re-styled the part in the front to the other side and took the crazy mess in his crown and styled it over to the side, looks so much better! We just need to go more often too so it doesn't get so crazy!
We took it easy the rest of they day, just hung around the house, played outside and all even got in a nap! We thought about going to the lake, but it was a little cool and we figured with all the rain that the water would still be pretty cold.
On Sunday, we headed to church and then after church was the annual sunday school picnic. Graham had lots of fun playing with the other kids, he even took up hopscotch, it was really cute. It was very hot and after eating and playing hard, we headed home and he fell hard asleep on the way home and slept a couple hours after we got home. We played outside later in the evening and then called it a weekend!
