It was a busy week of meetings and activities. Dean got the boys on Monday and Tuesday night while I had to work late. Monday night was Evan's weeknight swim lesson, it went about the same. He will relax and lay back and float but he continues to scream the whole time......... On Wednesday night and Thursday night, Dean worked late and I got both boys and we got dinner and went to Graham's Taekwondo class. He is getting close to testing for his senior orange belt so he is working on his form and his one step / sparring combinations. We practiced with his gear on at home on Wednesday night and then on Thursday night, he practiced with his gear on in class for the first time. He looks so cute in it. He is a little bit wobbly, but slowly getting the hang of it. He can put it all on himself......but it takes awhile!
On Friday night, it was Parents Night Out again at First Baptist, so we took the boys there and we went out to eat (and to the grocery store). A couple of the boys' daytime teachers were working it and Josephine and Viv were there as well. They had a fun time, having snacks, playing on the playground, doing art and hanging out in the classrooms playing. We picked them up just before 9pm and both of them fell asleep in the car on the way home (way past Evan's bedtime!) Dean managed to carry them to bed, change them and they never woke and slept straight through until morning!!!!!
On Saturday morning, we headed to swim lessons and then McD for lunch. Then, we headed to meet baby Molly! Kenneth, Danah and Lillian welcomed baby sister on Monday - 7 pounds 15 ounces and a head full of dark hair, just like Lillian. We had seen lots of pics of her, but were most excited to meet her in person. Graham was so sweet and gentle with her and did great holding her. We had to be a little more careful with Evan as he liked to grab at her a good bit. I was determined to get a pic of all four of them, but four kiddos under the age of 5 was a challenge. We took lots of goodies for Baby Molly and Lillian and spent the afternoon playing and having a good time. My parents were there as well and the big kids had some fun outside play time as well. We had pizzas and called it a day, it was a very fun first visit with Molly!
Evan continues to add new words to his vocabulary and be so expressive. We can understand what he wants most of the time and he will repeat more and more words now. And, his appetite just continues to amaze us every single day!!!! He continues to be so lovable and cuddly and smiley and we are just having so much fun with him! Graham is really enjoying his Kindergarten class. We sit down every night and look at his worksheets and he is doing so well. He got to check out another library book and picked a Blues Clue book. We are in full blown party planning mode for his birthday too, so that is very exciting! His permanent bottom tooth is working its way in fairly fast and the tooth right beside it has pretty much been loose every since he lost the first one. He complained while eating over the weekend a couple times and when I was laying with him at bedtime on Sunday night, he was wiggling it with his tongue back and forth. I pushed it back one time and he pushed it forwards again with his tongue and it fell out in my hand! We were very excited and ran to show daddy! The tooth fairy left him $2 for this tooth and I was tickled that I was with him when he lost this one!!!!
Labor Day was rainy and cool so we were glad we didnt plan on going to the lake. We stayed home mostly and took it easy and cleaned some house. Dean and Graham went out to run some errands and went for ice cream at DQ, so that was a fun treat for them. We also worked on Graham's 5th birthday party invites. We settled on a Dinosaur Train themed party at our house on Saturday afternoon, October 1st. We are PRAYING for good weather and hope to have activities outside in the backyard. We plan to have a dinosaur egg hunt and have boxes of sand with dinosaur fossils in them and then we will of course have cupcakes and ice cream! Graham is of course very very excited and wanted to invite everyone he has ever met, haha. We did invite his whole duck class, his K friends, some from friends that left First Baptist, some friends from Taekwondo and our family and friends, so it could be quite the party, but as long as the weather is good, it should be a big fun time in the back yard! We mailed and delivered all the invites on Tuesday and we are starting to hear back from some friends already!
Graham had Taekwondo class on Wednesday night and Thursday night and it is already time to sign up for testing again. It will be at the end of the month and so he needs to work really hard on his form and one steps. They think he will be ready, but he needs to get a lot of practice in this next couple weeks.
We continued to enjoy seeing the worksheets that Graham is doing in the Kindergarten class and we go over them every night. He is doing a lot of fun art projects as well. We also turned in his posterboard that tells all about him. He had to show it to his class and tell about it and then all the posters were displayed, so that was a really neat project!
On Saturday morning, we started back at swim lessons for both boys. Graham will resume his 45 minute class every Saturday morning at 10am and Evan will have a short class on Monday evenings and on Saturday mornings before Graham's class. Evan of course fussed and cried, but he did relax in the water and float some, so that was good. Hopefully, he will start to settle down before too much longer! Graham had to work on correcting some bad habits he developed over the summer and is really working on correcting his technique and increasing his breathing underwater. So, hopefully after this fall, through the winter and spring, by next summer, he will be even stronger. So, back to that routine!
We left swim lessons and headed to Blacksburg for Grey's 6th birthday party. We had pizza and cake at Brad and Kelly's house and that was a lot of fun. Graham loves a good birthday party and Evan just loves balloons! He sees balloons and goes nuts! So, as long as he had a balloon in his hand, he was happy!!! We left there and headed home and squeezed in some outside play time and called it a day!
On Sunday, we continued our church visiting, got some lunch and ran some errands and then headed home for a relaxing afternoon. The big excitement for this coming week is that Lillian's baby sister is scheduled to arrive first thing Monday morning! We will have to make due with pictures until next weekend, but we are very excited to meet her and to find out what her name will be!!!!!
I headed out of town for work right after I dropped the boys off on Monday morning and so they were on they were on their own until Wednesday evening. The highlight of the week was Graham starting K officially on Tuesday morning. Dean dropped him off in the duck class just like always, but at 9am, he and some others reported to the K room. He has to take a folder and brings home the worksheets that they do each do in his folder in his backpack. I was very excited to sit down and look at his worksheets when I got back home. Then, at 1pm, he goes back to the duck class at nap time and for the rest of the afternoon. So far, it seems like it is working out really well! On Wednesday, I got back in time to pick the boys up and meet up with Dean for the three of us with hair to get haircuts! By this age, Graham had already had his second hair cut, but Evan's is just not doing much OTHER than turning BLONDE! It is way blonder than Graham's ever was, white almost, so that is going to be interesting to watch!
On Thursday evening, I got both boys and we headed to Graham's Taekwondo class, always an adventure when Evan goes with us! But, we got through it and Graham was glad to get back to class. His spar equipment came in so that was very exciting. We got home and tried it all on and Graham was so excited. His first assignment, he has to learn to put it on and off all by himself and do so as quickly as possible!!! On Friday night, we stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner for a date night with two of my guys and some fun in the playroom, while Dean was working late.
On Sunday, we headed to church, and officially told our friends and church family at St Thomas that we had been visiting some other churches this summer with larger youth programs and that we found a few we want to continue visiting and therefore we are going to settle on one of those. It was very emotional and a decision that we have thought long and hard about, but one that we feel is right. We have visited churches with big nursery rooms for Evan to play in that have lots of other kids his age and then mostly for Graham's age, we have found programs where he starts out in church with us and then leaves and goes to a children's church program, so that has been really neat. Graham has been an absolute trooper as he has had to adapt to all kinds of different situations and be in and out of services. We have gotten lots of compliments on how well he knows his bible stories and songs and how delightful he is. Evan is typically clingy at first when we leave him, but he quickly settles in with the toys and is playing hard when we come back to get him.
We headed home from church and my parents came down for the afternoon to visit with us. We grilled some steaks out for lunch and had some fun inside and outside playtime. They stayed for the afternoon and then headed home. We very much look forward to being off Monday as well for Labor Day!
Evan continue to add more words to his vocabulary and add a few words together. He is probably not talking as much as Graham was at this age, but he has no trouble communicating with us. And, his appetite just continues to amaze us day after day, he will eat literally anything we put in front of him! And, he is still just as busy as he can be. No interest in TV or really sitting still at all. He is super sweetie too and can be such a little love bug! He keep things interesting for sure!
