We all survived my return to work and Evan's starting daycare. The week was pretty busy. I started out taking Evan and picking him up and mid-week, we switched and Dean took Evan since he could drop him off earlier and head on to work and I took Graham. Then, Dean would stop and get Graham and I would get Evan, except Tuesday and Wednesday, I got them both and on Friday Dean got them both! So, it is a little different every day and I guess that is how it will be, we will just take it day by day! Graham did really good going in to pick up Evan, it was familiar to him from when he went there. And, he really enjoyed checking out all the toys while I got Evan packed up and ready to go.
Evan settled in great, he wasn't sleeping as much as he was at home, he seemed fascinated by all the happenings and sites and sounds. The teachers said he was an angel and they wished they had seven more just like him. He never cried or fussed and smiled and talked for them lots and lots. So, that was re-assuring. He even had school pictures taken on Thursday, so I will be anxious to see how those turn out! We really like the teachers, so, so far, so good! Graham also had class pictures taken this week, 20 three-year olds! The teacher said they took about a 100 pics, ha! I can't wait to see those! Graham had a really good week at school too, so that was great!
Graham had his six month follow-up at the ENT on Tuesday. The doc could see one tube down in the ear canal about to work its way on out and he couldn't see the other one for the wax, but suspected that it was gone. So, he officially released us and sent us on our way! All in all, tubes were a very good move for Graham!
On Saturday, Graham, Evan and I met up with mama and we did some shopping and had lunch. Of course, Evan slept through most all of the fun, other than when it was time to wake up and eat. Graham had lots of fun in the stores and riding rides in the mall. Both boys slept all the way home! Graham was worn out!
After church on Sunday, we had Evan's three month photo shoot. He was very cooperative and is sitting better and better. He weighed in at 15 pounds and six ounces! He is a good couple pounds ahead of Graham at this age and still just a big chubby guy! He is still sleeping al night long and Graham is only waking ocassionally at night. We are so very lucky to have two great little sleepers in them!
We are getting excited for Evan's baptism coming up on May 16th, but not to sure he will be able to fit in Graham's outfit! So, we will have to see how that works out! But, either way, it is gonna be a really special day and we are very excited!
Evan is twelve weeks old and that means my maternity leave is over! Monday morning, we will begin a brand new routine with me and Evan going to work and daycare! We had a busy week trying to prepare for the the big transition! We were out and about all week, running errands and such. On Tuesday morning, we stopped in at Honeytree and visited for a little bit with his class. He was alert and interested in what was going on and gave lots of smiles! On Tuesday afternoon, we went back to my office for another visit. Everyone was taken by how much bigger he was since we were there 6 weeks before! Evan was asleep of course, but I woke him up so that he could visit with everyone. He let all kinds of people hold him and was all smiles!
On Thursday, we had another big day. I had to go to a PRSA meeting in Blacksburg. Evan and I stopped and visited with Kelly and then Evan hung out with her, Grey and Reed while I ran to my meeting. He was a trooper and even had a good bit of awake time. We left there and headed to Dean's office for a visit. His coworkers had not met Evan, so he was a big hit! We headed back to Roanoke and picked up Graham and hit the chinese buffet for dinner, quite the day!
On Friday morning, I took Evan to Honeytree to visit solo for about 3 hours. He did great and only napped about a half hour while he was there. He checked out the swing, the bouncy, his crib, ate and even had tummy time! They got his crib all fixed up and his cubby and I took all his supplies in, so we are all set!
We had a big weekend! On Saturday, we went to a Kite Festival, it was a really neat event at a huge park. There were thousands of people there and the Richmond Air Force club was doing professional kite flying and then tons and tons of people were flying kites in a big field. We took Graham's dragon kite that the easter bunny got him and then we also got him a new octopus kite while we were there. We had funnel cake and ice cream and flew and flew the kites. Of course, Evan slept in the stroller nearly the whole time, other than when we got him out to eat and take some pictures!
We left there and headed to Dean's parents to have dinner and celebrate his mom's birthday. Graham remembered that the last time we were there Evan was still in my belly and he wanted to show Evan the toy basket that Oma and Opa keep in the hallway for him! We had a fun visit and Evan even posed for a mini photo shoot during tummy time! We headed home late that evening and everyone was very tired!
On Sunday, Dean went to church without us, so I could get caught up on laundry and dishes, etc and get all our bags and such packed up for our big morning on Monday! I think we are about as ready as we can be!!!!! I took lots of pics of Graham and Evan on Sunday afternoon and we just hung out and watched tv and had a mellow afternoon while Dean did some yard work!
Hopefully, we will all have a good night's sleep and get in to our new morning routine! Evan is sleeping anywhere from 9 - 12 hours per night and Graham is still occassionally waking at night. Saturday night or early Sunday morning, he appeared in our room and I just plopped him in our bed - he told me on Sunday morning that he wasn't scared that he just needed to tell me something!
Evan weighed in at 15 pounds on Sunday! He is growing as fast if not faster than Graham did! And, since he was a pound and a half bigger at birth, he just seems like such a big boy! He is doing really well with holding his head up and his look and expressions are changing every day! And, sometimes, he will just talk and talk! It is so sweet! So, wish us luck for a busy busy week!
We had a full week this week! On Monday, I had to go to the office for a meeting for a couple hours, so Mama, Daddy and Lillian came down to watch Evan and Graham stayed home from school. Graham and Lillian had a big time playing and Evan........slept of course! On Tuesday, Seung and Kierson came to see us and meet Evan. Graham and Kierson had so much fun playing last fall when we went to Richmond, so they were both super excited. They played so hard, inside, outside, all over! And, then they had a sleep over in Graham's room and they were just beyond excited for that. It was really neat seeing them play together and of course, Evan slept through most of the visit! It was fun catching up with them. They left on Wednesday afternoon and Graham crashed hard. He was worn out!
He headed back to school on Thursday and Friday and I got back to work at home. Evan and I ventured out Friday afternoon to do a little shopping and he is still great about sleeping in the car seat and stroller while we are out and about.
On Saturday, we had a quiet day at home, played outside a little bit and made a Lowe's run. It seemed like Evan slept nearly all day, but he still managed to sleep his typical 9 - 10 hours, maybe it is a growth spurt! He is weighing in at 14 pounds and 4 ounces, so he is steadily gaining. He has moved out of most of the 0 - 3 month clothes and firmly in to the 3 - 6 months clothes. I have gotten the boys quite a few matching shirts for summer so that will be neat. I cant wait to take their pics at the lake in their cute little shirts.
We headed to church on Sunday and Evan once again slept through nearly the entire time we were there. Everyone keeps talking about how good he is and how quiet he is and I continue to remind them that Graham was the same way and we see how that turned out, ha! Graham shushes everyone when they walk up to look at Evan, funny thing, he is never quiet when he is sleeping! He does manage to wake up before we leave and gets lots of big smiles and even some goos and gas! It is super cute!
So, this is my last week home with Evan, I cannot believe it has already been 11 weeks! Time has flown by for sure. We have a busy week to get ready and then it will be quite the transition! I am just gonna try to enjoy every minute of this week! Very excited about the weather finally being warm to stay and hoping we get lots more outside time!
We were in the mode for Easter all week this week. Graham's class had an Easter Egg hunt on Thursday and he came home with all kinds of goodies and said it was a lot of fun! We read lots of Easter books all week for story time as well. The weather also FINALLY seems to be warm for good. Evan and I were able to get out and walk a couple afternoons so that was wonderful. He still sleeps the entire walk in his stroller! Well, he is still sleeping about all the time anyway! He is consistently sleeping through the night about nine to ten hours each night. He goes to bed shortly after Graham and then they are both good to go for the night. Graham is still waking occasionally for his bad dreams and has ended up in bed with us a few times. Hopefully that is just gonna be a phase!
On Friday, Dean and Graham were home with Evan and I for Good Friday, so that was nice. We colored Easter Eggs and that was a lot of fun. Evan can sit in the high chair at the table and he was very alert watching us and even smiling a good bit at what we were doing. Graham really enjoyed making the eggs all the different colors. We had some outside time and then headed to church for the evening service and then stopped and had a late dinner at IHOP on the way home.
We had a big day on Saturday, full of Easter celebrating. We headed out early to my parents house, it was Evan's first trip there! Mom fixed a big lunch and Kenneth, Danah and Lillian and Dean's parents joined us as well. Stacy and Sandy and Stacy and the girls also came by to see us and to meet Evan, so that was nice. He even managed to be awake for them for a few minutes! Graham and Lillian had a big egg hunt in the back yard. Of course, Graham totally got it and was running around filling his basket up, but Lillian wasn't quite sure and just kept taking the eggs back out of her basket and would try to eat chew on them (the hard plastic ones). But, it was a ton of fun to watch them. We flew kites, blew bubbles and my daddy fixed up a "easter hayride" with his riding mower and pulled them around the yard! By the time we headed out that evening, Graham was totally exhausted and both boys slept all the way home! They got lots of Easter goodies from everyone including lots of money to put in thier piggy banks!
So, Evan will be ten weeks old this week and that also means only TWO more weeks before he and I head to work and daycare! Time has flown by. We are gonna try to get by Honeytree and visit some these next two weeks and then I am starting to think about what our new routine is going to look like once I return to work. It is gonna be different for sure!!!!! Evan is up to about 13 pounds and 4 ounces and just growing like crazy! He has gotten himself in to a pretty good schedule, so hopefully we will have a smooth transition!!!!
