We continued to enjoy the warm weather this week and got outside every chance we could. Graham got to try out his new car in the driveway, although there was a lot of distractions out there as well to keep him wandering off from his car. He definitely likes being outside and we can't wait to spend more time outside and get over to the lake!
On Saturday, we got a porch swing for the lower patio. Graham loves to ride and say weeee, weeee over and over! I think we will get lots of use out of it while he is playing outside this summer. We worked on some landscape projects too and have lots more on the list to do. We also bought a new John Deere riding lawn mower, that gets delivered on Monday. Graham had quite the time checking out all the different models in the showroom, declaring one in particular - "mine, mine!" So, maybe one day, he will be doing the mowing!
Graham has finally gotten totally settled into his new room at daycare and / or got over the phase he was going through. Now when I drop him off, he goes right to the various toys and starts playing and simply waves bye and blows me a kiss. That is much better than me leaving with him being all upset! He is a little "hug monster" constantly hugging all over the kiddos and some aren't so crazy about it, so we are trying to teach him to be easy. But, he will literally hug anything or anybody, including animals and lawn ornaments! Never met a stranger is an understatement for him! He is also getting very independent, pushes us away and doesn't want us to help him do various tasks. So, all in all, he continues to keep things very interesting!
We got to get outside and walk the neighborhood several evenings this week, so that was very nice! Graham settled right back into the jogging stroller and enjoyed taking in all the scenery and saying hi and bye to anyone we passed along the way. Hopefully, the evening walks can be a normal part of our routine again. It was rainy on Sat and Sun evening though, so no walks for the weekend.
On Saturday morning, Dean and Graham both had hair appts. Dean was getting his cut first and after watching for a few minutes, Graham wanted to climb up on his lap, so Rachel got to it! He was much more cooperative than last time and she even got to use the clippers to even up his neckline and around his ears! It looks so good!
After we left there, we headed to Dean's parent for a bday lunch for Dean's mom. Michelle and Adam also joined us and we had a very nice time. Graham provided the entertainment of course! On Sunday, my parents met us at church and took Graham on home and we went out for a "date," lunch at Carabara's and then went to the mall and made a couple other stops. Graham had fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa while we were out and about. We got Graham the cozy coup car that he enjoyed so much when he was in the hospital and he loves it at daycare on the playground too. Dean put it together as soon as we got home and Graham spent literally the next couple hours in it! It was quite comical! We hope to be able to get outside with it this week, too rainy today. Here are some pics from the haircut.....
Graham went back to daycare this week and settled right back in, it was Turtle week and he was talking about turtles all week! They did turtle artwork and even got to see a real turtle. Graham was the only one in his class that went right up to the tank and banged on it! The weather finally was nice a few days and so he got to play outside at daycare and we had several evenings of outside playtime at home. He LOVES running all over the yard and even visiting neighbors! The only part he doesn't like is when it it is time to come in!
On Saturday morning, we had a play date at the Science Museum downtown with a friend of mine from out of town and her three daughters, one of who is Graham's age. We spent about an hour at the museum and Graham really enjoyed exploring and touching all the touchy feely exhibits. After we left the museum we had lunch in the food court and then headed home, Graham konked out right after we got in the jeep, he was worn out! It was alot of fun.
We went back to church on Sunday for the first time in a couple weeks since I had been sick the last two Sundays. Everyone thought Graham had grown so much and couldn't get over all his new words and his sign language. He was quite the ham, entertaining everyone and as usual makes it well known when he enters church for communion, bringing smiles to everyone's faces! He loves to point at Dean in the choir loft and yell Da-Da!
A few weeks ago, Graham had ole timey pics made at daycare again and I got to see them this past week. I wasn't planning on buying them since we just had them done last year, but once I saw them..... there was no resisting!!!! So, here they are!
Barely 10 minutes later the doc came out and told us everything went fine! He did put some antiobioitcs drops in his ear since they were infected and wrote us a script for antiobiotic steriod drops, twice a day for 7 days. Then in about 5 minutes, the nurse came and got us and took us back and another nurse was holding him and he was screaming! I sat down and gave him some juice and he settled down. In a few minutes, we left, stopped by the drug store and he fell asleep on the way home. Once we got home and he started playing, eating, and you would never know he had surgery that morning! He never ran a fever or had any side effects.
On Friday morning, we went in for his 18 month check-up. Graham woke up early around 7am, ate yogurt and milk, same as always and then played a bit and then me, him and my mom headed to the doc office! We were about 10 minutes out and he burped a big burp and basically threw up a small amount with it. So, my mom reached over the seat and cleaned him up and then abotu the time we pulled into the doc office parking lot, he threw up more and more and more! thank god, I keep a change of clothes in the diaper bag! Had to totally change him and the car seat cover will have to be washed! He never cried or fussed one bit! So, went in, got called right back and then waited a long 45 minutes for the doc to come in! He was 27 pounds and 3 ounces, 70th percentile, and almost 34 inches, 90th percentile. She said his tubes looked great, a little blood in one, but otherwise fine. She was very impressed with his vocabulary and how much sign language he was using in communicating with her. So, we debated what to do about the two shots (remainder of hep A and tetanus). We decided the throw up could have been motion sickness in the car from his equilibrium being off, (they warned us about that on Wednesday) or could be a virus, but no temp and he was playing as hard as he could play, drinking water and eating cheerios, so we went ahead with the shots! And, he never threw up again and ate great the rest of the day!!
Graham had fun playing with Grandma all week and Grandpa too when he dropped off and picked up Grandma. He loves to sit and be read to and have someone to chase him all around and entertain him. He has so much energy! It was really helpful having Grandma help us this week. I continued to be sick all week and Dean and I were both continuing to work really long hours. After a really bad day and night on Friday, I broke down and went to the doctor on Saturday morning and found out I have bronchitis! I guess I should not have delayed going to the doctor all week! I got a bunch of meds, hit the grocery store and came home! By Sunday afternoon, I am already starting to see some improvement, so that is great, now I just hope Dean and Graham don't end up with it!!!!
Here are some pics from surgery day!
